Shopmonkey Pricing Explained for Small Shops (2026)
Shopmonkey publishes its prices, which is more than many shop software companies do. But the plan price is only part of the bill. User licenses, migration, card readers and add-ons can change what you actually pay.
This page breaks it down using only what Shopmonkey publishes on its pricing page, with worked examples for small shops. We make GreaseGoose, a different shop software, and we mention it once near the end. Everything above that is about Shopmonkey.
Short answer: Shopmonkey costs $239, $399 or $499 a month for one shop on its Basic, Clever and Genius plans, or $215, $359 or $449 a month billed annually. Each plan includes 3, 4 or 5 users. Extra users are $20 a month each, and there's a one-time $500 data migration fee. Payment processing fees aren't published ("Call for Pricing").

Costs on top of the plan
Extra user licenses
Each extra user is $20 a month for a single location. Shopmonkey's FAQ says: "With each tier, you're given a certain number of included users. For additional users, the cost is $20 per user/month for a single location." Multi-location user pricing "is subject to agreement."
Shopmonkey offers an app "for technicians," so plan on techs who log in needing a license. Confirm with Shopmonkey how they count users.
Data migration
The pricing page says "a one-time $500 data migration fee applies" to its data migration assistance. Shopmonkey's FAQ says there are no setup fees, but "there may be additional fees for data migration or in-person training."
Payments and card readers
- Online and in-person processing fees: "Call for Pricing" on every plan.
- Card reader: $299 plus $10 a month per device.
- Card reader cellular: $10 a month per device.
- Instant payouts: "Call for more information."
Since processing fees aren't published, ask for the rates in writing. They can matter more than the plan price.
QuickBooks
QuickBooks Online integration is included starting with Clever. QuickBooks Desktop integration is listed as an "additional fee" on every plan, with no price shown.

What a small shop would actually pay: 3 examples
These are our calculations from Shopmonkey's published prices. They assume every person who logs in needs a user license, and they leave out payment processing fees, which Shopmonkey doesn't publish. The shops are made up.
Example 1: Shop A (made up). 3 people, Basic, billed monthly
- Owner who writes estimates, plus 2 techs. 3 licenses are included.
- $239 × 12 = $2,868 for the first year, plus $500 if you use Shopmonkey's data migration ($3,368).
Example 2: Shop B (made up). 4 people, needs QuickBooks Online, billed annually
- Needs QuickBooks Online, so Clever. 4 licenses are included.
- $359 × 12 = $4,308. Add migration ($500) and one card reader ($299 + $10 × 12 = $419).
- First year: $5,227, plus processing fees.
Example 3: Shop C (made up). 6 people, Clever, billed monthly
- 2 advisors and 4 techs. Clever includes 4 licenses, so 2 extra at $20 each.
- ($399 + $40) × 12 = $5,268 a year, before migration, card readers or processing.
Questions to ask Shopmonkey before you sign
- What are the online and in-person card processing rates for my shop?
- Do technicians need their own paid user license?
- Is the $500 migration fee required, or only if you migrate my data for me?
- If I pay annually, can I cancel early, and what happens to the unused months?
- How do I export my data if I leave?
Who Shopmonkey's price is worth it for
- Teams that fit inside the included licenses: 3 on Basic, 4 on Clever, 5 on Genius.
- Shops that use the tools already in Basic every day: two-way texting, inspection templates, PartsTech and CARFAX.
- Shops already set up and trained on it, especially on annual billing. Compare your real processing statement before you consider leaving.
If you do decide to move, the step-by-step list is on Shopmonkey alternatives without per-tech fees.

GreaseGoose is narrower than Shopmonkey. It's built around texting the estimate, phone approval and phone payment for 1–5 bay shops. It includes QuickBooks Online sync, Payments (through Stripe), digital inspections, and Goose Advisor on every plan, with a 14-day free trial and no contract. It doesn't include licensed labor-time data, parts ordering, or inventory purchase orders. If you need those, Shopmonkey's Clever plan or the others above are a better match.
